Staying at the Decca Bed & Breakfast FAQ’s

Why do you need a check-in time?

As a small family business we don’t have front desk staff (or any staff), so may need right up until check-in time to get the house and your room ready. We understand that circumstances can change so ask that you keep us in the loop if you’re going to be early or late. Generally rooms will be ready by 4pm but with advanced notice we will try our best to have them ready early.

Can I get an early check-in?

Communication is key. We will try our best to accommodate every request but the more notice the better. If you turn up before check-in time we unfortunately may have to ask you to return closer to check-in time. If we have a full house the night before you check-in we may well need right up until 4pm to get the house ready for your arrival. Check-ins outwith our normal hours of 4-8pm and check-outs after 10am MUST be arranged in advance and incur a £40 fee, IF we can accommodate it (depends on other bookings and availability).

Can I get a late check-out?

Communication is key. We will try our best to accommodate every request but the more notice the better. Check-outs after 10am MUST be arranged in advance and incur a £40 fee, IF we can accommodate it (depends on other bookings and availability).

Can you accept walk-ins?

Generally we can’t accept walk-ins as we are very busy during tourist season and get the rooms ready just before guests arrive.

Can we park our motorhome at The Decca?

Unfortunately, we have limited parking at The Decca so have to reserve those spaces for guests.

Can we bring pets to The Decca?

Unfortunately, we have a strict no pets policy.

Can non-guests eat at The Decca?

The only meal we offer at The Decca is breakfast. With advanced notice guests can bring friends or family who are not staying with us to breakfast. Additional breakfasts are charged at £10/person.

Can we have groceries or drinks delivered ahead of time?

Both the co-op and tesco can deliver groceries and alcoholic beverages to The Decca. The co-op is a bit easier. They can generally deliver with one days notice (not on Sunday though). You can email your order to shop.6838@coop.co.uk, give them our address but ask them to phone you for your credit card. Tesco will also deliver but it can be difficult to get a time slot. You can order and pay through their website https://www.tesco.com/groceries/. If you choose to have anything delivered we just ask that you give us a heads up to expect your shopping.

Do you serve alcohol?

The Decca does not have an alcohol license but you are welcome to bring drinks. Drinks can also be ordered ahead of time from both Tesco or the Co-op, (see above). Drinks can also be purchased from Cross Stores or the Cross Inn (2 miles away from us). However please be aware that both are closed on Sundays. We just ask guests to remember that The Decca is also our family home so please remain respectful and keep noise to a minimum after 8pm.

I’m coming on a Sunday. What is open?

On Lewis, Sundays are traditionally a day of rest. Therefore the restaurants, pubs and shops are generally closed. There are also no deliveries on Sundays. Please plan ahead if arriving on a Sunday. If you are expecting to have groceries or drinks delivered please plan to have them delivered before Sunday. We are happy to hold onto items for you (within reason, if you’re getting a large amount of items that need refrigerated we need to make sure we have space). We can put beer/ wine in the fridge for your arrival. Cross Inn does serve meals on Sundays, but with limited hours (12:30-4:30pm), so plan ahead!
